Abstract

This study aimed to describe the use of social media facebook among students of S1 Guidance and Counseling Campus Indralaya Sriwijaya University. This study used a qualitative approach with descriptive analytic method. Subjects in this study were students who registered as students of Guidance and Counseling Study Program S1 Sriwijaya University campus Indralaya force in 2016 and 2017 are 71 students consisting of 56 female and 15 male. Data were collected using questionnaires. The results showed that the use of social media facebook among students of S1 Guidance and Counseling Campus Indralaya Sriwijaya University was utilizing social media facebook new for their interaction. But only a small percentage of students who use media facebook for their academic needs and most students use social media facebook for non-academic in their personal lives such as updates, status chatting and share photos or videos.
