Abstract

ABSTRACT The elderly who lives at Panti Werdha Foundation in Palembang City have daily activities, which are usually carried out including daily personal needs such as eating, drinking, dressing, bathing, worshiping, socializing and others. This study aims to find out what activities are carried out by the elderly who live at the Panti Werdha Foundation in Palembang City after COVID-19 pandemic came to the city of Palembang which caused the activities of the elderly to be limited. This type of research is a qualitative research with 3 stages consisting of planning, implementation and report writing. The subjects of this study amounted to 1 elderly companion and 5 elderly residents living at the Panti Werdha Foundation, Palembang City. The data collection method for this thesis uses the author''s observation method, interviews with research subjects face-to-face and documentation in the form of photos when the research is carried out. the emergence of the covid-19 pandemic that hit the city of Palembang. This causes the interaction of the elderly with people from outside the orphanage to be reduced. Even activities that were usually carried out before the pandemic, such as praying together had to be limited. Even activities that require visiting outsiders such as morning gymnastics, visits from certain communities/parties must be stopped in order to maintain the health of the elderly. The activities of the elderly before the pandemic at the Palembang nursing home varied, starting with morning exercises, health checks, mandatory worship . However, after the pandemic has had a major impact on the activities of the elderly, one of which is the activities of the elderly who are hampered, starting from health checks to direct church worship activities, while so far healthy elderly people are allowed to worship at church, and from a social perspective, the elderly do not move and socialize much. .
