Abstract
Infant formula is not sterile products. It may be contaminatcd with bacteria if not handled appropriately. Estuningsih researeh (2006) found contamination of E. sakazakii m infant formula samples about 22,73% and 40% of samples of baby food that were distributed in Indonesia. To prevent contamination occurs, it takes the right knowledge of parents, especially mothors, in storing, preparing, and Processing infant formula. This researeh aims to study the mothers knowledge and attitude about good preparation of infant formula based on 12 steps of in 4 Ulu Primary Health Care Palembang. Methods: This researeh was conducted in October up to Dccember 2012 in 4 Ulu primary health care Palembang by using deseriptive observational survey. Results: The results of the researeh in the 4 Ulu Primary Health Care Palembang with a total sample of 100 respondents, obtained as much as 45 respondents (45%) who have a good level of knowledge, 51 respondents (51%) have a sufficicnt level of knowledge and 4 respondents (4%) had a less knowledge level. The majority of respondents who have good level of knowledge were aged 20-35 years (46.20%), had secondary education (47.8%), mothers who are not working (41.2%), who had one child (57,1%), and has a high level of family income (44.1%). 'I he majority of respondents being agreed with good preparation of infant formula based on the 12 step of WHO (91,33%). Conclusion: Most of the respondents had a sufficicnt level of knowledge, that were 51 respondents (51 %;, and agreed with 12 steps of WJ lO (91,33%;.
