Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik kimiawi dan potensi pemanfaatan D.salina dan Nannochloropsis sp. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Desember 2010 sampai dengan April 2012 yang bertempat di Laboratorium Dasar Bersama Perikanan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Sriwijaya, Laboratorium Teknologi Hasil Perikanan Fakultas Pertanian Sriwijaya, Laboratorium Bioproses Teknik Kimia Universitas Sriwijaya dan Laboratorium Terpadu Institut Pertanian Bogor. Parameter yang diamati pada penelitian ini meliputi bobot kering biomasa, analisis proksimat (kadar air, kadar abu, kadar protein, kadar lemak, kadar karbohidrat total), analisis total karoten dan analisis asam amino. Komposisi proksimat Nannochloropsis sp. yang diperoleh pada penelitian ini yaitu kadar abu sebesar 58,00%, kadar air 12,39%, kadar protein 16,17%, kadar lemak 0,30%, kadar karbohidrat total 19,08% , total karoten 0,27 ppm, dan asam amino esensial (histidin,threonin, arginin, metionin, fenilalanin, valin, isoleusin, dan leusin) dan asam amino non-essensial (asam aspartat, asam glutamat, serin, glisin, alanin, dan tirosin). Sedangkan untuk sampel D. salina ialah kadar abu sebesar 58,29%, kadar air 15,58%, kadar protein 17,08%, kadar lemak 0,003%, kadar karbohidrat total 15,07%, total karoten 0,19 ppm, dan asam amino esensial (histidin,threonin, arginin, metionin, fenilalanin, valin, isoleusin, leusin, dan lisin) dan asam amino non-essensial (asam aspartat, asam glutamat, serin, glisin, alanin, dan tirosin). Dari data hasil analisa karakteristik kimiawi dan bobot kering D.salina dan Nannochloropsis sp. yang diperoleh pada penelitian ini, biomasa yang dihasilkan penelitian ini memiliki karakteristik mutu kimiawi yang lebih rendah dari persyaratan mutu mikroalga sebagai bahan baku industri pangan, pakan, biodiesel dan bioetanol.
