Abstract

All types of work will result in fatigue. Fatigue will decrease performance and increase the error rate of work. Fatigue is a common health problem among labor. One cause of work fatigue is physical activity. Physical activity carried out by firefighters is very strenuous and requires physical strength. The purpose of this study was to describe the physical activity and fatigue of firefighters at the Palembang City Fire and Disaster Management Office This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach. Information is of seven informants obtained through in-depth interviews, observation and review documents. The results showed that the physical activity carried out by informants were lifting the hose, operate water, deploying the hose, installing the nozzle. For work fatigue, it was found that all informants experienced work fatigue when fighting fires. It can be concluded that all informants have different physical work activities at one time and experience work fatigue because their work involves physical and psychological activities. So, it is suggested that it is necessary to conduct management training for firefighters. Keywords: Work Fatigue, Physical Activities, Firefighters
