Abstract

This research is entitled The Role of Women in Improved Family Economic Resilience During the Covid-19 Pandemic (Study on the Wife of Layoff Victims at the Kesuma Permai 2 Housing Village, Sungai Selincah Kalidoni Palembang). The purpose of this study is to find out how the family's economic resilience is during the COVID-19 pandemic and what is the role of women in increased family economic resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study used the concept of women's role theory from Mosse (2004:37). This study aims to describe the role of the wife in the Kesuma Permai 2 Housing, Sungai Selincah, Kalidoni in increased the economic resilience of the heads of families affected by layoffs. This research used descriptive qualitative research method. This study used 10 main informants, 5 wives of the heads of families affected by layoffs, 2 key informants and 3 supported informants. Data collection techniques in this study are observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study are that the family's economic resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic has decreased or is unstable. After the wife plays a role in helped trade, it makes the economy more stable and the family economy improves. The role of women is divided into 3, namely reproductive roles where women played a role in the domestic sphere took care of housework, educated children, and took care of the family. The role of the productive economy is that women played a role in increasing the family's economic resilience, became an online trader or home trader, managed money well so that the family economy can be stable. The three roles of community management were that women played a role in community activities in their place of residence. Keywords: Role of Women, Family Economic Resilience, Covid-1
