Abstract
Decreasing quality of an image occurs in the acquisition process so that the information in image is not conveyed properly. Form of decreasing image quality are overexposed image and underexposed image. The overexposed image and the underexposed image must be manipulated by a method to improve its brightness. Software was built that can improve the brightness of color images using the Fuzzy Logic method and modification of Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). RGB color space is converted to HSV to maintain chromatic image information. This research uses two thresholds to determine the underexposed and overexposed region. Gaussian membership function is used in the fuzzification process. The sigmoid function is used to increase the value of the gaussian membership function. Modified Particle Swarm Optimization is used to optimize the value of the parameters in the sigmoid function. The results of this study produce a better image than the original image based on qualitative and quantitative assessments.
