Abstract

This research was entitled ANALYSIS OF COFFEE DRINKING TRENDS IN ADOLESCENT IN PALEMBANG CITY (Study on Porta coffee shop and Kopi Dari Hati & Toast in Palembang City). This research is a type of descriptive qualitative research that focuses on field research and does not rule out a literature study that aims to describe the symbolic interaction of adolescents when drinking coffee in a coffee shop. The sampling technique used in this research is purposive sampling. The samples taken in this study were teenagers aged 18-25 years with an intensity of 3 times a week drinking coffee at a coffee shop. Data collection methods used are in-depth interviews, observation and documentation. The data analysis used is the Miles & Huberman model data analysis which suggests that the activities in qualitative data analysis are carried out continuously until the data is completely saturated. The results of this study indicate that the characteristics of adolescents who drink coffee at coffee shops are seen from their lifestyle and social life, spending a lot of time with their friends. This is evident from the findings in this study regarding the trend of drinking coffee in adolescents in coffee shops seen as a way to become a goal of fulfilling desires, where drinking a cup of coffee in a coffee shop will be more delicious when drunk together while chatting, joking with friends, working on a thesis. or tasks and also as a comfortable place to entertain yourself from the problems experienced. The interactions carried out by teenagers in the two coffee shops as locations for consuming coffee are related to affordable prices for teenagers, strategic locations, adequate facilities and the comfort of a place that can be spent in hours. The intensity and frequency of the time used also varies, some are two to three hours, some are three to six hours depending on interests. Keywords : Symbolic Interaction, Youth, Coffee Shop.
