Abstract
Background : Diabetes Mellitus type 2 is an uncontagious chronic disease which has many complications and the prevalence rises every year. Therefore, Oral Antidiabetic therapy given to DM type 2 patients should be indicated properly and rationally. This study aimed to know the rationality of Oral Antidiabetic uses to DM type 2 patients who were hospitalized In RS.A.K. Gani Palembang from Agustus 2010 until Juli 2011. Method : this statistic descriptive study of drug utilization was conducted in RS.A.K.Gani Palembang started from November until December 2011. Population of this study is medical record of DM type 2 patients who were hospitalized from Agustus 2010 until Juli 2011. The samples are 50 medical records which are fiilfilled in inclusion criteria. Result: From 50 medical records, the re are 35 female patients (70%) and 15 male patients (30%). The most patients are 61-70 years old (30%). Oral Antidiabetic uses which not combine is 76% and combine with other drugs is 24%. Oral Antidiabetic uses with paten drugs is 38,46% and with generic drugs is 61,54%). Oral Antidiabetic uses such as Sulfonilurea is 43,08% and Biguanide is 56,92%. The Frequency of Glimepiride uses once daily is 100%, Glibenclamide once daily is 100%, Gliklazid once daily is 77,78% and Metformin twice daily is 40,5%, third daily is 48,6%. Glimepiride were given 1 mg dose is 50% and 2 mg dose is 50%, Glibenclamide were given 5 mg dose is 100%,, Gliklazid were given 80 mg dose is 100%, Metformin were given 500 mg dose is 94,59%, 850 mg dose is 5,41%. Oral Antidiabetic uses which were given 14 days is 73,85%. Interaction of Oral Antidiabetic, at most addition is 41,54%o, potentiation is 41,15%, antagonistic is 13,46%, follow up obtain in 81,54%, There are no contraindication in 84,62%, over prescribing is 9,23%, incorrect prescribing is 18,46% and under prescribing is 6,15%. Conclusion: There are Oral Antidiabetic uses 's irrationality and need to be fixed so that become more rational and achieve ejfective therapy with minimal side effect.
