Abstract

Stress is the individual's reaction both physically and emotionally if the situation is not in accordance with what is desired with the individual’s biological, physiological, or social system. The purpose of this study is to determine the risk factors that affect the stress levels of boarding and non-boarding school students in Palembang during the COVID-19 pandemic. This research was a quantitative research using a cross sectional design study with purposive sampling technique and the number of samples are 208 from MAN 3 Palembang which is dormitory school dan 208 from SMA Negeri 6 Palembang which is non dormitory school. Statistical analysis used included univariate analysis, bivariate analysis using chi-square test and simple logistic regression test, and multivariate analysis using multiple logistic regression test with predictive model. The results showed that the prevalence of severe stress in MAN 3 Palembang students was 41,8% and the prevalence of severe stress in SMA Negeri 6 Palembang students was 45,7%. The results of the multivariate analysis showed that the most influential variable on the stress level of the students of MAN 3 Palembang was the use of social media (PR=3,397; 95%CI=1,478-7,807) and the variable that had the most influence on the stress level of stress in the students of SMA Negeri 6 Palembang was sleep quality (PR=4,211; 95%CI=1,345-13,185). The conclusion of this study is that the use of social media is the most influence on stress levels in MAN 3 Palembang students and sleep quality is the most influence on stress levels in SMA Negeri 6 Palembang students.
