Abstract

The junior high school student assumes a number of social development tasks that he must complete. The existence of social skills will support him in achieving these developmental tasks optimally. This research aims to identify and describe the level of social skills in students of SMP Negeri 2 Palembang for the 2022/2023 Academic Year. The method used in this study is descriptive quantitative. The data was collected through the deployment of questionnaires with a likert scale model, which was then analyzed using the percentage formula (%). The population in this study was class VIII students of SMP Negeri 2 Palembang which amounted to 296 students with a sample of 170 students taken through a simple random sampling technique. The results showed that in general students inclined had a moderate level of social skills with a percentage of 38% (64 students) which was characterized by quite good skills in behaving towards the environment, themselves, and their tasks, but lacking skills in behaving towards others.
