Abstract

This study aims to describe how the role and ways of parents in stimulating self-regulation of children aged 5-6. The type of research used by researchers in this study is qualitative with a descriptive approach. Early childhood learns self-regulation in regulating their thoughts, feelings, behavior and emotions by seeing and responding to adult roles. So that help from adults is very important and needed in the development of self-regulation, one of which is the role of parents in setting a good example for children. Growth and development that includes children's cognitive and emotional values can be called self-regulation. Self-regulation will bring external influences with the ability or capital possessed by the child as a basis for taking actions that aim to achieve the desired ability, thus allowing the child to have individual control over his thoughts, feelings, motivations, and behavior. With self-regulation, children will know and understand what kind of behavior is acceptable to their environment. Early childhood learns self-regulation in regulating their thoughts, feelings, behavior and emotions by watching and responding to adults. Help from adults is needed in the development of self-regulation from an early age. Giving positive examples to early childhood by adults both at home and at school will make children remember and respond to the actions of adults. Giving rewards and appreciating children's behavior if they act positively will develop their self-regulation abilities. It can be concluded that self-regulation itself is also the most important driving force of human personality, especially children to control emotions and behavior.
