Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding is giving only breast milk without additional food. One of the success factors of exclusive breastfeeding is the trust, support and role of the husband who fully supports his wife who is in the process of breastfeeding both morally and materially. Various ways can be done to increase the husband's role and knowledge in exclusive breastfeeding by providing health education using an Android-based application for breastfeeding fathers. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in the effect of android applications and booklet media on the husband's role and knowledge in exclusive breastfeeding. The research design was a quasi-experimental design with a pretest posttest with control group design. The sample in this study amounted to 34 respondents, each group consisting of 17 people. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire. The results of the analysis using the paired t test obtained a value of p = 0.000 (sig <0.05) meaning that there are differences in the effect of android applications and media booklets on the husband's role and knowledge in exclusive breastfeeding. The results of the analysis used the independent t-test to find out the difference in the average of the two groups, obtained a p value of 0.042 (sig <0.05), meaning that there was an average difference in the husband's role in the experimental group and the experimental group. control group. Meanwhile, the husband's knowledge obtained a p value of 0.199 (Sig > 0.05), which means that there was no difference in the average between the experimental group and the control group, but there was a difference in the increase in the experimental group's posttest scores. which is higher than the control group. This can prove that the android application is more effective than the media booklet. In the current technological era, health education using an android application is highly recommended to attract and motivate people to learn science, especially about exclusive breastfeeding.
