Abstract

This research is entitled 'The Implications of Using the Internet in the Life of Coastal Communities during the Covid-19 Pandemic'. The purpose of this research is to find out the Implications of Using the Internet in the Life of Coastal Communities during the Covid-19 Pandemic in Tanah Choose Village, Banyuasin II District. In this study using the theory of social change according to Technological Determinism According to McLuhan in (Hijrawani, 2022. The research method used is Qualitative. The types and sources of data are in the form of observation, in-depth interviews and documentation. Determination of informants in this study used purposive. Informants in this study totaled 9 , which consisted of 7 main informants and 2 supporting informants. The results of this study indicate that the use of the internet in Tanah Choose Village has implications in various aspects ranging from social, economic, and educational aspects. The use of the internet in Tanah Choose Village has implications in various aspects starting from social, economic, and educational aspects.The obstacles faced by the community in using the internet in Tanah Choose Village, Banyuasin II District, namely: 1) internet access is still minimal and stable, 2) people are still having difficulty adapting to new changes.
