Abstract
White tea contains catechins which have pharmacological effects as antioxidants. This study used test animals in the form of male Wistar rats which were divided into seven groups: normal group, negative control (STZ-NA induced), positive control (STZ-NA and Glibenclamide induced), group 1 (STZ-NA induced and SNE base). , Group 2 (induced STZ-NA and SNE-white tea extract), group 3 (induced STZ-NA and white tea extract), and group 4 (induced STZ-NA and catechins). The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of SNE-Extra white tea in treating type-2 diabetes, repairing oxidative stress, and testicular microanatomy. The parameters observed in this study were the insulin profile which included insulin levels in the body, the level of insulin resistance in the form of a homeostatic model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), the level of damage to pancreatic beta cells in the form of a Homeostatic Model Assessment of Beta Cell Function (HOMA-ß). , parameters of oxidative stress including GSH and GPx, as well as testicular microanatomy parameters using Johnson's assessment, degree of necrosis, and level of fatty degeneration. This study shows that SNE-white tea extract is effective in increasing insulin levels, reducing insulin resistance, repairing pancreatic beta cells, improving oxidative stress, and improving testicular microanatomy.
