Abstract
The condition of agricultural land in Indonesia is decreasing every day considering that agriculture is one of the important sectors for Indonesian people. To overcome this, the agricultural sector implements narrow land farming, namely using a hydroponic system. The use of hydroponics requires extra supervision to be able to produce good quality plants. Hydroponics was chosen because it is more efficient and easier to farm. In hydroponic plant care it is very important to pay attention to when it is necessary to add water and replace it with nutrients. The Nutrient Film Technique (NFT) technique is an effective method for hydroponic plants. In the NFT technique, nutrient circulation in water must flow continuously which results in the pump having to be on all the time. The purpose of this research is to develop a design from a fluid mechanics point of view of an open channel flow system for the application of an NFT-based hydroponic system. In this study the method used was experimental and made a test device. This research makes 2D and 3D modeling using the Computer Aided Design (CAD) program in solidwork applications. The result of this research is that the water in the long pipe will flow to meet the growth of kale and pakcoy.
