Abstract

Cigarette smoke is one of the sources of air pollution, due to its very harmful content, especially for health. The MQ-2 sensor is a sensor with high sensitivity and fast response time to detect the presence of cigarette smoke. This study used an Arduino Nano microcontroller as a circuit controller using C language as a programming language. The outputs made are a 16 x 2 LCD display and an AC-powered bell alarm. The LCD will continue to turn on and display commands when detecting cigarette smoke as well as when not detecting. While on the alarm bell, it will only sound if cigarette smoke is detected by the sensor. Cigarette smoke for data collection was obtained from a smoker who smoked around the sensor. The data calculation carried out was to test the characteristics compared to the AS8700A sensor which resulted in an average accuracy value of 93.127% and a precision of 98.11%.
