STAINLESS STEELL ST-304 MERUPAKAN JENIS BAJA NON MAGNETIK TAHAN KARAT YANG MEMILIKI KOMPOSISI 0.042%C, 1.19%MN, 0.034%P, 0.006%S, 0.049%SI, 18.25%CR, 8.15% NI DAN SISANYA FE. TUJUAN PENELITIAN INI UNTUK MENGETAHUI PENGARUH DARI PERLAKUAN PANAS QUENCHING TERHADAP NILAI KEKERASAN PLAT STRIP STAINLES STEEL ST-304 YANG DICELUPKAN LARUTAN SULFUR. JENIS PENELITIAN YANG DIGUNAKAN ADALAH PENELITIAN EKSPERIMEN. SPESIMEN BERBENTUK PLAT BERUKURAN PANJANG 5 CM, LEBAR 3 CM DAN TEBAL 5 MM. SPESIMEN DIPANASKAN DENGAN TUNGKU BERSUHU 800˚ DENGAN HOLDING TIME 10, 20, 30 DAN 40 MENIT YANG KEMUDIAN DI�QUENCHING MENGGUNAKAN LARUTAN SULFUR BERLANJUT DENGAN UJI KEKERASAN VICKERS DENGAN WAKTU PENEKANAN 10 DETIK DAN BEBAN TEKAN 30 KGF. HASIL PENELITIAN MENUNJUKKAN BAHWA ADA PENGARUH DARI PERLAKUAN PANAS QUENCHING TERHADAP NILAI KEKERASAN PLAT ST-304 YANG DICELUPKAN LARUTAN SULFUR YAITU, PENINGKATAN NILAI KEKERASAN, NILAI KEKERASAN TERTINGGI PADA SPESIMEN YANG DI-HOLDING TIME 10 MENIT MENDAPATKAN NILAI 207,08 KGF/ , SPESIMEN NILAI TINGGI PADA WAKTU 40 MENIT DENGAN NILAI KEKERASAN 193,53 KGF/ , SPESIMEN HOLDING TIME 30 MENIT DENGAN NILAI KEKERASAN 183,84 KGF/ , SPESIMEN NILAI RENDAH PADA ROLE MATERIAL DENGAN NILAI KEKERASAN 176,66 KGF/ , SPESIMEN NILAI TERENDAH ADALAH HOLDING TIME 20 MENIT DENGAN NILAI KEKERASAN 165,50 KGF/ .
