Abstract

The oceans cover 74.2% of Indonesia. Thus, Indonesia has abundant potential resources from the marine sector, one of which is fisheries. Some occupations that are closely related to fish are fishermen and fishmongers. Before being cooked, the scales and belly cavity of the fish must be cleaned first. However, fishmongers take a long time to clean a fish using a knife. Thus, a tool that can clean and cut automatically is needed. This research was conducted to design and implement a tool, namely the automatic fish machine. This machine utilized Arduino AtMega32, an infrared sensor to detect the fish, and LCD to show the sensor value and motor speed. Then, a motor driver was used to drive the motor which was connected to a cleaner. A knife blade was utilized to clean the scales and cut the fish. This machine has been tested for various fish sizes and scales. The results showed that automatic fish machines can simplify and speed up the cleaning and cutting of fish, especially tilapia. The thickness of the fish was able to be cleaned by an automatic fish machine with a minimum size of 20 mm to 60 mm. The result of cleaning and cutting fish produced from the automatic fish machine was 10 pcs/minute.
