Abstract

This study aims to determine the picture of intimate friendship in early adult individuals. The problem formulation of this study is how the description of intimate friendship in early adulthood. The sample of this study was 300 early adults in Indonesia. Sampling was done using a purposive sampling technique. This study uses one scale as a measuring tool, namely the intimate friendship scale which refers to the dimensions of exclusivity, honesty, and spontaneity of attachment, sensitivity and understanding, trust, and loyalty from Grime (2005). The results of the research data were analyzed by descriptive statistical methods using independent sample t-tests and one-way ANOVA techniques. The results showed that the intimate friendship variable has a high category in early adults in Indonesia. The dimensions of trust and loyalty in intimate friendship contribute the most in influencing friendship intimacy.
