Abstract
The reasearch objective was to determine water purifier performance by using Moringa oleifera seeds powder as coagulant and solar cell as power source to produce consumable water quality. It was conducted from October to December 2017. Factorial Randomized Block Design with 2 treatment factors and three replication was used in this study. The first factor was river’s water (A1), well’s water (A2) and swamp’s water (A3), whereas the second of factor was weight of Moringa oleifera seeds powder of 0.1 g/ℓ (B1), 0.3 g/ℓ (B2) and 0.5 g/ℓ (B3), respectively. The observed parameters were turbidity, TDS, pH, color, water discharge and operational power requirement. The results showed that the lowest turbidity was found on A1B2 with magnitude of 0.34 NTU, whereas the highest one was found on A1B1 treatment with magnitude of 2.78 NTU. The lowest TDS value of 3.31 mg/ℓ was found on A2B3 treatment and the highest one of 5.43 mg/ℓ was found on A1B3 treatment. The lowest pH of 5.13 was found on A2B3 treatment and the highest one of 6.02 was found A3B1. The lowest color’s value of 5 TCU was found on A1B2, A2B1, A2B2, A2B3 and A3B3 treatment, whereas the highest one was found on A1B1 treatment with magnitude of 13.3 TCU. The lowest water’s discharge of 1,214 mℓ/min was found on A3B1 treatment, whereas the highest water’s discharge of 2,042 mℓ/min was found on A2B3 treatment. The lowest operational power requirement of 9.3 W was found on A2B1 treatment, whereas the highest one of 10.8 W was found on A3B3 treatment. Weight of Moringa oleifera seed powder and water types had significant effect on turbidity and color of water.
