Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship of meaning in the Kompas daily editorial and its implications for Indonesian language learning in high school. This study used the descriptive qualitative method. The data collection technique used in this study is the documentation technique. The data source for this study is the September 2022 edition of the Kompas daily editorial, which has a total of 50 editorials. The results of the research on the analysis of meaning relations in the Kompas daily editorial are synonymous with 6 data such as ‘menghibur’ and ‘menggembirakan’. Antonyms have 12 data such as ‘pro’ and ‘kontra’. Hyponym and hypernym have 28 data such as ‘bahan bakar minyak’ and ‘pertalite, solar, pertamax’. Polysemy has 16 data such as the word ‘kepala’. The ambiguity is that there is 1 data, namely ‘Truss akan langsung menghadapi badai’. There is 1 data redundancy namely ‘dan/atau’. The conclusion is that the most common meaning relations found in Kompas daily editorials are hyponym and hypernym, while the meaning relation that is not found is homonym. The results of this study can be implicated in learning Indonesian, especially at the senior high school level in class X on KD 3.2 Comparing the meaning relations between words in Indonesian and in class XII on KD 3.6 Analyzing the structure and language of editorial texts.
