Abstract

The research was to determine the performance test results of 25 watt LED grow light with automatic humidity control on the growth of lettuce production (Lactuca sativa L.) hydroponic system. The research was conducted from January 2023 to February 2023 in two places, namely the Laboratory of Biosystems and Agricultural Energy, Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University and Permata Indralaya Hydroponics. The method used in this research is the experimental method and the data is presented descriptively with the data obtained presented in the form of graphs and tables. This study used two treatments and one control, namely using sunlight irradiation as control (A) for 12 hours (in the greenhouse), using LED grow light irradiation for treatment (B) for 16 hours and irradiation using LED grow light for treatment (C) for 20 hours. The main parameters observed were light intensity, temperature, relative humidity, power demand, electrical energy, plant height, leaf width, number of leaves and fresh weight while the supporting parameters observed were solution pH, TDS (Total Dissolved Solid) and EC (Electrical Conductivity). Automatic humidity in this study uses a humidifier or fog machine with a digital hygrostat measuring instrument. The results showed that 20 hours of irradiation for treatment (C) gave the best results of all measured research parameters when compared to 16 hours of irradiation for treatment (B). The largest productivity of lettuce plants was 2.46 tonnes/ha in treatment (C), while the smallest productivity was 1.94 tonnes/ha in treatment (B). The productivity of lettuce plants as control (A) for 12 hours was 11.89 tonnes/ha.
