Abstract

Health problems faced by Indonesia today are influenced by lifestyle, diet, and environmental factors. Changes in lifestyle, especially in large cities cause an increase in the prevalence of degenerative diseases such as diabetes mellitus. DM is a group of metabolic diseases with characteristics of hyperglycemia that occur due to abnormal insulin secretion, insulin action or both. The purpose of this study was to describe the factors that influence the adherence of an outpatient diabetes mellitus diet in Aceh Tamiang Hospital. Sampling techniques the sample in this study was taken using a Accidental sampling technique,he sampling technique in this study was taken by using Accidental Sampling is a sampling technique based on coincidence, namely consumers who accidentally meet with researchers can be used as samples, if viewed by people who happened to be found suitable as a source of data.The number of samples in this study were 64 patients in RSUD Aceh Tamiang. Data analysis used univariate and bivariate (Using Chi-square and Fisher test)The result showed that factors related to adherence to outpatient diabetes mellitus diet were education and health care support. The advice given for people with DM is to continue to maintain a diet that is certainly balanced with regular exercise, exercise 5 times a week with a duration of 30 minutes per day, and there must be support from families so that patients with DM diet do not feel alone in doing the diet.
