Abstract
Maspari Island is the only island in the sea waters (Bangka of Strait) owned South Sumatra. Until now Maspari island information about the condition of the is still very limited, so this research is necessary to be done . The purpose of this research is to explore information about the physical condition of chemistry and biology aquatic through the study of the waters of the directly to the site Maspari island Ogan Komering Ilir in South Sumatra. Measurement and data collection was conducted in October 2013. The results showed that the physical conditions of water chemistry Maspari Island is still in good condition. The main difference can be seen from the distribution of nutrients , where the content of nutrients ( phosphate and ammonia ) in the northern part of the island Maspari tend to be higher than the western and southern sides, except the nitrate content. The concentration of nitrate in the west tend to be higher than the two other locations. In biological research , which is observed is the type and abundance of phytoplankton, and found 13 species of phytoplankton with Chaetoceros and Bacteriastrum as the dominant phytoplankton found . The structure of the community diversity index medium, high uniformity index and no genera that dominate.
