Abstract

Macrozoobenthos have a preference for certain substrates that suit their living needs and ecological functions. Grain size can affect the physical and chemical properties of an aquatic habitat, Sembilang National Park is used as a conservation area, fishing activities, settlements, and port areas. The increase in utilization of the coastal area has an impact on disturbing the balance of coastal dynamics. This study aims to study and inventory the types of macrozoobenthos to see the stability of the aquatic ecosystem of Sembilang National Park. Macrozoobenthos sampling used purposive sampling method. station point and 3 substations based on the coastal zone (a), intertidal zone (b), sea zone (c). Sampling of macrozoobenthos at the bottom of the water with a surface area of 1m x 1m using a filter. The results showed that the substrate had a significant effect on the macrozobenthos community structure. The macrozoobenthos found consisted of 3 classes, 16 species and 442 individuals. The highest composition of Macrozoobenthos comes from the Gastropod class with an amount of 60%. The highest abundance of individuals was at station 1 of the marine zone with the number of individuals of 222 ind/㎡ coming from the Gastropod class with the species Cerithidea cingulata. The relationship between abundance and community structure of macrozoobenthos to environmental parameters in the waters of the Sembilang National Park is characterized by high Dissolved Oxygen (DO) and sufficient concentrations of sand which will affect the abundance of macrozoobenthos present in the ecosystem.
