Abstract

Poor canteen hygiene and sanitation practices can create health disorders such as food-induced diseases. In addition, high levels of fly density due to poor canteen sanitation can also create health disorders due to pathogens derived from flies. The study aims to analyze the sanitation of the school canteen and the level of fly density in SMA 1 Tulung Selapan Kec. Tulung Selapan Kab.OKI in 2022. This is qualitative research with an observational approach. The informants in this study were selected using a purposive sampling technique consisting of 14 people, namely the head or representative of the head of school, the owner of the Kantin, and the student participant. Data for this study was obtained through observations using checklist sheets, in-depth interviews using interview guidelines, fly measurements using fly grills, temperature and humidity measurement using hygrometers, and documentation using mobile phones. The results of the research showed that some of the aspects studied were the location and building aspects, the aspect of the sanitation facilities of the cantine, and the sanitary aspects where the food supply has not been described in accordance with the applicable provisions. When this happens, there are still some components that are not considered eligible. The temperature of the cantine obtained figures ranging from 28.4 °C to 30.7 °C, the humidity ranged from 74% to 81%, and the level of fly density in the cantine obtained a low category of 4 and a medium category of 3. It can be concluded that the sanitation of SMAN 1 Tulung Selapan's cantine has not met the sanitary requirements of the cantine listed in the 2003 decision of the Minister of Health (RI No. 1098/MENKES/SK/VII) and has the lowest level of fly density in the middle and the highest fly density in the low categories. Thus, through this research, it is hoped that the owner of the cantine will pay more attention and increase the sanitation of the school canteen, as well as that the school party will need to make efforts to disseminate and monitor the place related to the sanitary environment of the cantine so as not to cause the density of flies.
