Abstract
In 2012 there were 17.5 million deaths, or 46% of deaths caused by NCD (Noncommunicable Disease). And then, 7.4 million were caused by heart attacks (ischemic heart disease) and 6.7 million were caused by strokes. In Indonesia stroke ranks the first highest cause of death at 21.1%. This study uses IFLS data in 2007 and 2014, to determine the association of metabolic risk factors with stroke disease in Indonesian. This research is a quantitative research by using a retrospective cohort study design with sampling using multistage random sampling so that a sample of 7,707 respondents in accordance with inclusion and exclusion criteria. As for the inclusion criteria, the respondents were IFLS 2007 dan IFLS 2014 who were ≥ 15 years old and did not suffer a stroke during the IFLS 2007 enumeration. While, the exclusion criteria were missing data, there were respondents who answered not knowing, loss to follow up, respondents who did not have data year or age first suffered a stroke or data was first diagnosed with a stroke that answered did not know and pregnant woman. Analysis of research data using complex samples analysis consisting of three stages, namely univariate, bivariate with simple logistic regression test and multivariate using multiple logistic regression risk factor models. The results showed that stroke was found in 140 respondents (1.8%). The main independent variable is the metabolic risk factor which significantly affects the incidence of stroke after being controlled by the age gender, and physical activity variable. Variables confounding are age, gender, and physical activity. Suggestion for research is that people apply healthy lifestyles, such as we must control blood pressure to remain stable by making efforts such as implementing a healthy lifestyle, physical activity, regular exercise and eating foods that are low in saturated fats and which contain fiber. For health agencies, the need to conduct health sosialization to the public regarding prevention of PTM especially stroke, sothat people are more concerned with themselves by checking themselve into health service especially if they experience symptoms or signs of stroke.
