Abstract
This study aimed to evaluate the application of Indole Acetic Acid (IAA) and corn seed extract on the growth of red dragon fruit (Hylocerus polyrhizus) seed in culture media. This research was conducted at the Tissue Culture Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture UNSRI. The research was conducted from March to May 2023. Two plant growth regulators (PGR) were used, namely Indole Acetic Acid (IAA) and young corn seed extract, resulting in combination of 16 treatments. Sixteen treatments were A0B0 (control), A0B1 (IAA 0 ppm + corn seed extract 5%), A0B2 (IAA 0 ppm + corn seed extract 7.5%), A0B3 (IAA 0 ppm + corn seed extract 10%), A1B0 (IAA 0.5 ppm + corn seed extract 0%), A1B1 (IAA 0.5 ppm + corn seed extract 5%), A1B2 (IAA 0.5 ppm + corn seed extract 7.5%), A1B3 (IAA 0.5 ppm + corn seed extract 10%), A2B0 (IAA 1 ppm + corn seed extract 0%), A2B1 (IAA 1 ppm + corn seed extract 5%), A2B2 (IAA 1 ppm + corn seed extract 7.5%), A2B3 (IAA 1 ppm + corn seed extract 10%), A3B0 (IAA 1.5 ppm + corn seed extract 0%), A3B1 (IAA 1 ppm + corn seed extract 5%), A3B2 (IAA 1 ppm + corn seed extract 7.5%), A3B3 (IAA 1 ppm + corn seed extract 10%). The results showed the giving of corn seed extract could have an effect on the number of roots and leaf growth. IAA concentration of 0.5 ppm with 7.5% corn seed extract was the best PGR (Plant Growth Regulators) combination.
