Abstract

The purpose of this study is to: (1) Describe the local wisdom practiced by lowland farmers in Sako Village Rambutan District, (2) Identify the behavior of lowland farmers in Sako Village Rambutan District in farming, (3) Identify the way of lowland farmers in Sako Village Rambutan District did the survival strategy. This research was conducted in Sako Village Rambutan District Banyuasin Regency. Determination of the research location was carried out purposively. The research was conducted in November 2022. The research method was carried out using a survey method. The sample selection was carried out by purposive sampling method with the consideration that the research respondents had lebak rice field farming. KHL or Decent Living Needs is a standard requirement in one month that must be met by a worker or laborer to live a decent life. Based on the research that has been done, the results are: (1) Local wisdom is still carried out in Sako Village in the lebak swamp rice farming which includes the activities of procuring seeds, seeding and planting, as well as post-harvest, (2) The behavior of lebak rice farmers in carrying out rice farming is included in the moderate criteria. (3) The income obtained by farmers from lowland rice farming cannot meet the needs of a decent life in Sako Village, therefore farmers need to implement a strategy to fulfill it. There are 3 survival strategies carried out by lowland farmers, namely active, passive and network strategies.
