Abstract

Hypertension is a disease known as a silent killer. Kambang Health Center is a health center that has the 3rd most hypertension patients in Pesisir Selatan District. However, only 0.8% of hypertension sufferers had hypertension checked at the Kambang Health Center. Efforts to prevent and control hypertension by cultivating self-awareness for early detection of hypertension. The aim of the study was to analyze the relationship between mindset, environment, and motivation with family self-awareness for early detection of hypertension. This research is a quantitative study with a cross sectional approach. Sampling used cluster random sampling with a total sample of 102 respondents. The results showed that the majority of respondents had a good level of self-awareness (64.7%), had a good mindset (96.1%), had a supportive family environment (54.9%), and had high motivation (89.2%) for early detection of hypertension. The results of the chi square test are there is a relationship between mindset and family self-awareness for early detection of hypertension (Pvalue=0.014), there is a relationship between environment and family self-awareness for early detection of hypertension (Pvalue=0.000), and there is a relationship between motivation and self-awareness family for early detection of hypertension (Pvalue=0.000). This study concludes that mindset, environment, and motivation affect the level of family self-awareness for early detection of hypertension. So it is hoped that the Kambang Health Center can provide health promotion how importance of early detection of hypertension by taking family approach.
