Abstract

Abstract The purposes of this study were: (1) to estimate the amount of packaged cooking oil consummed by households in 30 Ilir Village Ilir Barat II District Palembang City; (2) to analyze the factors affecting the consumption of packaged cooking oil by households in 30 Ilir Village Ilir Barat II District Palembang City; (3) to describe the use and the handling of packaged cooking oil waste by households in 30 Ilir Village Ilir Barat II District Palembang City. This research was conducted in January in 30 Ilir Village Ilir Barat II District Palembang City, South Sumatra. The research method used was a survey with a sample of 45 households. Data were processed using descrptive analysis and multiple linear regression. The results of this study showed that: (1) The average amount of packaged cooking oil consumption by households is 5.87 liters/month and the amount of packaged cooking oil consumption per capita is 1.2 liters/month. So that household cooking oil consumption per capita per month in 30 Ilir Vilagge Ilir Barat II District Palembang City is higher than the consumption of cooking oil per capita per month in Palembang City in 2021 of 0.8 liters/month; (2) the factors that significantly affect the consumption of packaged cooking oil by households were income, price of the packaged cooking oil and number of family members. While education and age did not significantly affects the consumption of packaged cooking oil; (3) the average used of cooking oil was 253 ml per cook and used repeatedly for as many as 2 times before disposed of. The cooking oil waste was temporarily collected or directly disposed of through sewers. Keywords: consumption, disposal, factors, packaged cooking oil, waste.
