Abstract

This research examines how Japan's State Strategy in increasing foreign tourist arrivals. A country where in 2012 Japan was hit by a devastating natural disaster which caused a decline in tourism which resulted in a decrease in the level of foreign tourist arrivals, starting from here, Japan's steps to increase competition with Foreign countries are increasing at that time. In order to increase foreign tourist visits, empowering the tourism industry is an important milestone in increasing their income from visiting tourists. In this case, not only the natural beauty is explored more deeply, but other supporting factors also need to be empowered so that it can make the Japanese tourism sector increase. . This study aims to explain the strategy of the State of Japan in increasing foreign tourist visits from 2012 to 2019. This study uses the theory of Competitive Advantage which uses the Porter's Diamond concept to explain the supporting factors that influence the increasing number of foreign tourists and how its efforts to compete with other countries in terms of increasing the number of foreign tourists after the 2011 Tsunami disaster. The method used in this study is a qualitative method. The results of this study indicate that the State of Japan has made various efforts to increase foreign tourists, namely by using five supporting factors, namely Factor Conditions, Demand Conditions Firms strategy, structure, and rivalry, Related and supporting industries, and Government which from the 5th ( Five) these factors have been successful in carrying out Japan and also how can they compete with other countries in their tourism sector in increasing visits by foreign tourist.
