Abstract

The speed and depth of CPR compression by nursing students are often inappropriate, resulting in the implementation of ineffective CPR compressions. Music feedback devices with a rhythmic speed, according to AHA guidelines (100-120 bpm), are being considered as an option as they have been proven to help maintain the quality of CPR compressions, ensuring stability and accuracy. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of music with a tempo of 100-120 bpm on the speed and depth of cardiopulmonary resuscitation compressions. This study employed a quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent control group design. The number of samples was 32 respondents, consisting of 16 respondents in the experimental group and 16 in the control group, selected using random sampling techniques. Data analysis for CPR compression speed utilized paired t-test and independent t-test, while the depth of CPR compression used McNemar and Mann-Whitney tests. The instruments used included a CPR manikin equipped with sensors, MixMeister BPM Analyzer (MixMeister Technology, LLC), laptop, speaker, observation sheet, stature meter, and scales. The results of this study show that there is a significant difference in the speed of CPR compression between the experimental and control groups, with a p value of 0.000 (α <0.05). However, there is no significant difference in the depth of CPR compression, with a p value of 0.282 (α>0.05). The use of musical aids is proving to be effective in maintaining the speed of CPR compression in line with AHA 2020 guidelines.
