Abstract

Magot (Hermeti illucens) has a protein content ranging from 37-44% and other nutrients which are very useful for fish feed. Magot cultivation requires the availability of media that is continuous and rich in protein and carbohydrates. The purpose of this study was to determine the production of magot in a combination culture medium of bran and tofu waste and to test the administration of fresh magot to catfish. This study used a completely randomized design with 5 treatments and repeated 3 times. The treatments given were bran culture media 100% (P1), bran culture media 70% and tofu waste 30% (P2), bran culture media 50% and tofu waste 50% (P3), bran culture media 30% and tofu waste 70 % (P4) and 100% tofu waste culture media. The results showed magot culture using a combination of 70% tofu waste and 30% bran got better results than the other combinations with media production yields of 238.3 g. While the results of giving magot to catfish (P4) were the best treatment with absolute weight growth of 5.47 g, absolute length growth of 2.81 cm, feed efficiency of 64.3%, and survival of 98%. The rearing water quality measured during the study was temperature ranging from 26.1-27.8°C, pH ranging from 5.5-6.1, dissolved oxygen during rearing ranging from 4.43-4.87 mg L-1 and ammonia ranging from 0.013 -1.149 mg L-1.
