Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is not infectious diseases ranked sixth as a cause of death with a prevalence of cases amounted to 21.0% in 2013 based on the Ministry of health. Diabetes mellitus occurs due to the inability of individuals in avoiding or not it does control of risk factors.This research is quantitative research with cross sectional approach, using secondary data Indonesia Family Life Survey (IFLS). The analysis of research data using complex sample binary logistic regression using models of risk factors. The results of this study stated, the prevalence of diabetes mellitus in Indonesian reached 2.9%. In multivariate factors, which cannot be modified is the most dominant age 5,148 (95% CI 4,240-6,251) and factors that can be modified most predominantly associated with diabetes mellitus is 3,424 hypertension (95% CI 2,900-4,024) after controlled by occupation, gender, obesity, physical activity, and the consumption of fiber. To lower the number of occurrence of diabetes mellitus should need todetect early disease diabetes mellitus DM disease can attack the population aged over 40 years nor less than 40 years, dietary control to implement consumption patterns balanced nutrition at the DM and sufferersalso experience hypertension keepconsumption patterns more strictly to lower the risk of complications of cardiovasculardisease, as well as conducting activities enough to not couse obesity.
