Abstract
Degraded peatlands will have a negative impact on life, various negative changes will occur in the environment. For this reason, it is necessary to carry out research to monitor changes that occur in peatlands so that the sustainability of peatlands is maintained. This research was conducted by making comparisons of peatland cover, vegetation index and moisture index. The data used is landsat 8 imagery. For land cover using the Iso Cluster Unsupervised Classification method, the vegetation index uses the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), and humidity uses the Normalized Difference Moisture index (NDMI). There was a decrease in each monitoring, in land cover there was a lot of openland from 2019 to 2020, as well as in NDVI and NDMI. In 2021 the condition of peatlands will gradually improve and in 2022 peatland conditions are getting better. When viewed from rainfall, the changes that occurred in 2019 were caused by low rainfall, low rainfall resulting in land becoming dry and prone to fire. The burning of these peatlands will have a bad impact on life, global warming will occur and will disrupt life now and in the future. The decreased health of peatlands can also be caused by human actions on peatlands, such as land clearing and illegal logging. Restoration is needed to repair damaged peatlands, and to prevent damage to peatlands it is necessary to socialize the community regarding the importance of peatlands and their impacts if they are damaged so that peatlands are maintained in the future. Keywords: Iso Cluster Unsupervised Clasification, NDVI, NDMI.
