Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of self-control in adolescents in using the TikTok application in Timbangan Village. This type of research is descriptive analysis using a quantitative approach. Data collection techniques using questionnaires and observation. The results of the expert validation test on the questionnaire resulted in 30 question items and in the validity test with the help of SPSS all items were declared valid. In addition, the results of the r_count reliability test obtained a value of 0.939 and declared reliable. The sample of this study amounted to 61 people who were teenagers aged 11-13 years who used the TikTok application in Timbangan Village, the determination of this sample was carried out by calculating the Slovin formula and adjusted to the inclusion criteria. The results showed that the level of self-control of adolescents in using the TikTok application in Timbangan Village was 74.19%. Indicators of behavioral control and decision control obtained a high category with a percentage of 71.8% and 83.18%, these results indicate that most teenagers have been able to set limits on themselves and make good decisions for themselves in using the TikTok application. In the cognitive control indicator, it is quite high with a percentage of 67.59%, this is because a small percentage of teenagers who use the TikTok application in Timbangan Village make negative comments on TikTok and do not check content that is not clear the truth. Self-control in adolescents using the TikTok application is very important, especially in the cognitive control indicator, it is hoped that teenagers using the TikTok application will be able to maintain good behavior habits and think carefully.
