Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact on the increase in the number of mental disorders and information searches related to mental disorders in Indonesia. Information searches conducted by the public can form information flows that can be analyzed using Google Trends. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship of keywords related to mental disorders with COVID-19 cases in Indonesia. This research uses mix method research with an explanatory design that is preceded by quantitative research using the Spearman correlation test to determine the relationship between variables and then explained qualitatively to explain in detail the results of quantitative research. The results showed that there was a low significant relationship between the variables of positive COVID-19 cases (p-value= 0.00, ρ= 0.292) and COVID-19 death cases (p-valu= 0.13, ρ= 0.205) with the keyword anxiety. There is a low significant relationship between the variables of positive COVID-19 cases (p-value= 0.022, ρ = 0.189) and COVID-19 death cases (p-value= 0.00, ρ= 0.294) with the keyword insomnia. There is no significant correlation between the variables of positive COVID-19 cases (p-value= 0.634, ρ= 0.039) and COVID-19 death cases (p-value = 0.185, ρ= 0.109) with the keyword depression. There is no significant correlation between the variables of positive COVID-19 cases (p-value=0.817, ρ=-0.019) and COVID-19 death cases (p-value= 0.521, ρ=-0.053) with the keyword suicide. Google Trends was able to illustrate search trends related to the keywords "anxiety" and "insomnia" compared to the keywords "depression" and "suicide" which were more searched when symptoms persisted in individuals during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is hoped that the results of information searches using the keywords "anxiety", "insomnia", "depression" and "suicide" can provide information related to mental health information needs in the community during the pandemic.
