Abstract

This study aims to analyze the socio-economic changes of the community after illegal oil drilling in Simpang Bayat Village, Bayung Lincir District, Musi Banyuasin Regency. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods by taking information from 6 informants consisting of the main informants of illegal oil drilling actors and communities affected by illegal oil drilling while supporting informants are mining land owners. Data were obtained through observation, in-depth interviews and documentation. The results show that there are social changes in Simpang Bayat Village caused by illegal oil drilling. These changes can be seen in terms of social norms, community behavior, and community social interaction. While from the economic aspect, the changes can be seen from the income and welfare of the people living in Simpang Bayat Village. Another finding is that illegal oil drilling has had a negative impact on the community environment, due to waste, and asapt from illegal oil drilling.
