Abstract

The purposes of this research are to: (1) identify processed products that may be developed by papaya fruit farmers, (2) calculate the income, cost of goods, and r/c ratio on the farming of papaya fruit and various agroindustry processed products of papaya fruit, (3) analyze the added value of papaya fruit products that are processed into agroindustry and UMKM products, (4) formulate the strategies for developing agroindustry and UMKM that can be done by papaya fruit farmers. The research was conducted at Talang Jambe Urban Village of Sukarame, Palembang South Sumatera. The location was chosen purposively. The method used in this research is a survey method. The data collected by primary and secondary source. The sampling method used in this research was census taken from 30 farmers. The result of this research showed that the products may be develoved by papaya farmers are papaya chips, papaya dodols, papaya candied, papaya jam and papaya gumdrop. The income, cost of good, and r/c ratio on the farming of papaya fruit are Rp. 16.931.023/year, Rp. 1.947/kg, and 2,35, on the papaya chips agroindustry are Rp. 388.238/month, Rp. 676/pcs, and 1,48, on the papaya dodol agroindustry are Rp. 630.034/month, Rp. 606/pcs, and 1,65, on the papaya candied agroindustry are Rp. 466.082/month, Rp. 10.290/pcs, and 1,94, on the papaya jam agroindustry are Rp. 968.918/month, Rp. 8.545/pcs, and 1,76, on the papaya gumdrop agroindustry are Rp. 557.718/month, Rp. 5.095/pcs, and 1,57. The papaya chips has the added value about Rp. 19.000, the papaya dodol has the added value about Rp. 41.081, the papaya candied has the added value about Rp. 43.200, the papaya jam has the added value about Rp. 34.070, and the papaya gumdrop has the added value about Rp. 10.866. The strategies for developing agroindustry and UMKM are conduct entrepreneurship training activities, conduct socialization activities and product promotion, and increase the production and quality of agroindustry products
