Abstract
Soft clay or very soft clay is soil that has very low bearing capacity and a relatively large settlement, thus the foundation should be designed specifically so that the slability of the building. One of the solution is giving of geolextile and the bamboo grid under shallow foundation to increase the reinforcement of soil. This experiment was tested in Soil Mechanics laboratory of Sriwijaya University. To simply the calculation and to support this opinion, so the analysis is done with PLAXJS 2D version 8.2 program. The porpuse of this reasearch is to determine the ratio of bearing capacity value between the shallow foundation without reinforcement and with reinforcement f or each width and depth variation.. This research used a numerical model, PLAXIS 2D version 8.2 program was applied. The modeling used width and depth variations of reinforcement to get the ultimale of soil bearing capacity and BCR (Bearing Capacity Ratio) by comparing bearing capaciiy with reinforcement and those without reinforcement. Based on the analysis, the combination of geotextile and bamboo grid increased soft clay bearing capacity. In modeling test, obtained the value of the largest bearing capacity occurs at variation of modeling 0,25B;4B as 405,657 kPa, while the smallest bearing capacity occurs at variation of modeling 1B;2B as 367,813 kPa. This research howed that the more width of reinforcement, the bearing capacity more increased. Meanwhile the further location of reinforcement from fondation, the obtained value become smaller. From the obtained value, it can be concluded that the combination of geotextile and bamboo grid were properly used as ashallow fondation reinforcement material o n soft clay.
