Abstract

Hospitals can be said to be waste donors because they produce waste that is classified as Hazardous and Toxic medical and non-medical waste. At Curup Hospital, themanagement of Hazardous and Toxic medical waste is still experiencing problems, especially the management of medical waste from reporting, sorting, storage and transportation. The aim of this research is to analyze the management of Hazardous and Toxic materials medical waste at the Curup Regional General Hospital, Rejang Lebong Regency, Bengkulu Province 2023. The research uses qualitative methods, namely data collection is carried out by in-depth interviews, observation and document review and the data is analyzed descriptively. Validity testing is carried out through triangulation of data, methods and sources. This study consisted of 6 respondents, who were determined using the snowball technique who were in the hospital. The results of the research show that there are deficiencies inthe implementation of Hazardous and Toxic materials medical waste management at Curup District Hospital,namely that it does not have an operational permit for TPS for Hazardous and Toxic materials medical waste and there are no environmental requirements, namely the Company Performance Rating Assessment Program in Environmental Management (PROPER), medical Hazardous and Toxic materials waste has not been separated according to with characteristics, there is no logo on the yellowplastic bag for infectious waste, the bag is tied using rabbit ties, there is accumulation due to delays in transportation to third parties, no disinfection is carried out in the Hazardous and Toxic medical waste bin. The conclusion of this research is that the management of Hazardous and Toxic medical waste at Curup Hospital has not been carried out properly in accordance with Permenlhk No. 6 of 2021 concerning procedures and requirements for managinghazardous and toxic waste.
