Abstract

The government can do several ways to finance the State Budget Deficit such as borrowing money from within or outside the country, using foreign exchange reserves and printing new money called seigniorage. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of seigniorage on inflation rate in Indonesia period 1995 - 2016. This research uses secondary data in the form of time series data obtained from the website of the Ministry of Finance, Bank Indonesia and Central Statistical Agency (BPS). Variables used in this research is seigniorage as independent variable and inflation as dependent variable. The analysis technique used in this research is univariate analysis and bivariate analysis using simple linear regression and using Ordinary Least Square (OLS) method. The results of this research indicate that the variable seigniorage positive and significant effect on inflation in Indonesia with R2 of 24%.
