Abstract

Almost all office employees use computers in their daily work. The use of computers is also inseparable from the things that can cause disorders Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs). The disease is caused by a mismatch between the tool, the human, and the work process so that the workers often do work activities with static postures .This study aims to analyze the factors of Musculoskeletal Disorders on Upper Limb Extrimities. This research includes analytical descriptive research with cross sectional design. The sample of all employees of computer user in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Muhammadiyah Palembang is 43 people. Sampling technique in total sampling. The data were analyzed by univariate and bivariate using chi square test.The results showed that most employees experienced severe complaints of MSDs. Most complaints perceived by the body based on the upper neck (95.3), back (97.6), waist (95.3) and buttom (93.0). Level of risk of ergonomic complaints MSDs on the employees were level 2 and 3. Factors that were related based on research results obtained is the level of Occupational Factors, Exercise Habits, and Years of Service.It can be concluded that MSDs complaints in upper limb extrimities in the employee sitting position are caused by the level of occupational factors, exercise habits, and years of service. This research suggestion should be to overcome complaints Musculoskeletal Disorders employees to immediately change the position of an static sitting like a head that is too bent, bent position, back-to-front and too ducked in a long time and give a little stretch every 15 minutes on the body if you feel complaints such as stiff, tingling and pain.
