Abstract
This research was aimed to examine the best dose of chicken manure on the growth and yield of Bima Brebes variety shallot plants (Allium ascalonicum L.). The research was carried out at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, in North Indralaya sub-district, Ogan Ilir, South Sumatra, with coordinate points 3⁰13'29.74 S and 104⁰38'54. BT. Analysis activities were conducted at the Plant Physiology Laboratory, Department of Agricultural Cultivation, Sriwijaya University. The research was carried out from May to August 2023. This research used a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 4 treatment levels, where each treatment consisted of 3 replications. Each replication contained 3 plants, resulting in a total of 36 plants with P0 = Control, P1 = 10 tons ha (40 grams polybag-1), P2 = 20 tons ha (80 grams polybag-1), and P3 = 30 tons ha (120 grams polybag-1). The seeds used were shallots of the Bima Brebes variety. The parameters observed were leaf length, number of leaves, number of tillers, leaf greenness level, chlorophyll content, root length, leaf area, bulbs diameter, bulbs length, bulbs volume, number of bulbs, fresh weight of bulbs, air dried weight of bulbs, and fresh weight and oven dry weight. The results of this research showed that the application of 20 tons of chicken manure (80 grams polybag-1) had a significant effect on the growth and yield of the Bima Brebes variety of shallots on the parameters of leaf length, leaf greenness, chlorophyll content, root length and leaf area.
