Abstract

This research entitled “The Development of Islam in Tanjung Sari Village, East Buay Madang Sub-district, East Ogan Komering Ulu District in 1938-1968: Contribution to Islamic History Course in Indonesia”. The purpose of this study was to find out the development of Islam in Tanjung Sari Village, which began with the Dutch colonialization which transmigrated people from Java to South Sumatra. This research was conducted from March 15, 2019 to April 20, 2019 in Tanjung Sari Village using the historical research methodology with the process of collecting data through documentation, interviews and literature studies. This study obtained the results about the internal dynamics of Muslim relations in trans-migrant areas which showed two patterns of relationship development, which were the relationship between religion and local traditions and the relationship between religion and religious thought. So that the relationship between religion and culture could be used as a strategy in an effort to develop internal religion in Tanjung Sari Village and there was a tauhid text that was used as a guide for teaching Islam so that the religious thinking patterns of the people in Tajung Sari Village developed.
