Abstract
Rice plants are plants that can produce the main needs for humans, namely carbohydrates and protein. In Indonesia, the most widely cultivated food crop is rice. One of the causes of the decline in rice production and the decline in the quality of the production produced in several areas is the presence of pest and disease attacks. In controlling pest and disease attacks, the control that farmers often use as the main alternative for controlling pest and disease attacks is to use synthetic chemical pesticides. Pesticides are chemicals intended to control pests, plant diseases, natural enemies and neutral insects. Improper use of pesticides, such as the correct dosage and correct destination, has a negative effect on pest resistance, environmental damage and the health of farmers as users. This attack can be detrimental to farmers because it can reduce crop yields. Therefore, to overcome this pest or disease attack, it is necessary to control the method used in this research, namely by using a questionnaire system for farmers followed by observations on the farmer's land. Based on the research that has been carried out, it was concluded that most farmers already know about IPM, but from field observations the results of attacks and diseases are not comparable with farmers' knowledge. The use of pesticides among rice farmers in the city of Palembang has complied well with the rules for using pesticides, which can be seen from the pesticide compliance score, which has a score of 284. The use of pesticides has a big impact on pests, diseases, neutral insects and natural enemies. Because pests are for the purpose of reducing their numbers. pests, natural enemies and neutral insects can also have an effect because the active ingredients of non-selective pesticides can also cause death to natural enemies and neutral insects. The highest intensity of pest attacks on rice plants is caused by the pest Pomaceae caniculata L. Flooded land is a suitable habitat for the life of snails so that the snail population increases which has an impact on the high intensity of snail attacks (Pomaceae caniculata L). and the lowest intensity was caused by the pest Nilaparvata lugens. Because this species does not cause damage to the affected sample plants. Meanwhile, the highest disease attack intensity was leaf spot disease, which was 16.5% with a light attack level, and the lowest attack intensity was blast disease, which was 0.94%.
