Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of self-compassion toward psychological well-heing of young adults who are victims of dating violence. The Iypothesis in this study is that there is a role of self-compassion on psychological well-being of young adults who are victims of dating violence. Respondents in this study were 110 people aged 19-30 years and had been victims of dating violence. The sampling technique used in this study was purposive sampling technique. The measuring instrument utilized in this study were Adapted Psychological Well-being (PWB) scale by Rachmayani & Ramdhani (2014) which referred to the dimensions of PWB by Ryff & Keyes (1995) and self compassion scale which referred to the dimension of Neff (2003). Data analysis in this study simple regression techniques. The results of the regression analysis showed that the R squared value between self-compassion and psychological well-being was 0.315, the F value was 49.754 and a significance value was 0.000 (p<0.05). From these results, it shows that self-compassion has a significant role in psychological well-being, thus the hypothesis proposed in this study can be accepted.
