Abstract

Drugs use is a global problem faced by various countries, including Indonesia. South Sumatra is one of the provinces in Indonesia with a total of 3359 drug users. Long-term drug use can have addictive effects and have negative impacts on health, social and mental life. Drug addicts can be given group activity therapy to motivate and support the recovery of former drug users. This research aims to determine the effect of providing group activity therapy on changes in the motivation of drug addicts. The method used was a quasi experiment with a sampling technique, namely non-probability sampling, on a population of 25 drug addicts at the Ar-Rahman Jakabaring rehabilitation center. The research sample consisted of 11 people. The results of data analysis using the paired t test obtained a p value of 0.002 (<0.05) which can be interpreted as group activity therapy having a significant influence on the motivation for recovery of drug addicts at the Jakabaring Ar-Rahman rehabilitation center. Group activity therapy can be provided as therapy to speed up the recovery and healing of drug addicts in rehabilitation centers.
